2. | SCHARDELOWE, Bonaventure was born on 16 Nov 1545 in Schimpling, near Diss, Norfolk (son of SCHARDELOWE, Stephen and THWAYTES, Thomazine); died in 1588?. Other Events and Attributes:
- Name: 1571, Shimpling, Norfolk, UK; Extract from “The History and Antiquities of the County of Norfolk: Clavering, Depwade, Diss and Earsham†1781.
The book describes “Shimpling, or Shimplingham, as it is wrote in the Doomsday bookâ€Â.
“it is a rectory appendant to the manorâ€Â
“The rectory hath a house and sixteen acres of glebeâ€Â
“The chancel is covered with large grave-stones, all disrobed of their brasses; several of them were laid over the rectors ….. The rest, that had arms, we take to be laid over the Shimplings, and the Shardelowes.â€Â
“John Aldham … he died in 1558 and was buried in this chancel, leaving his part to John, his son, who held it jointly with Bonaventure Shardelow in 1571; Mr. Aldham had a fourth part of the manor, and a third turn, and Mr. Shardelowe three parts and two turns. …. It looks as if the Mottes had Aldham's part, and afterwards purchased Shardelowe's of Mr. John Shardelow who held it til 1611.â€Â

Ancestry.com has a record header for a Probate entry with a 1588 date on it for him, but it says the book is 'Marriages'. Maybe there is a will for him? Also mention of him as a 'gent' with 208 homes?
